Most professional logos are created as vector graphics. This type of file can be scaled to any size without losing quality. That means the same logo can appear huge on the side of an aeroplane or tiny on a lapel pin, and it will always stay crisp and clear.

A Bitmap Illustration

This is an illustration I drew on paper and then scanned onto my computer. Images will always scan in a raster (bitmap) format.

If you enlarge a raster image too far, it becomes blurred and pixelated because you’re stretching the individual pixels beyond their intended physical size.

A Vector Illustration

In this version, I placed the bitmap image as a template layer in Adobe Illustrator and then using shapes and line tools, I recreated my image into a vector format to create a little character for a colouring book.

This vector image, with clean, clear paths, can be scaled to suit any application, including vehicle decals and signs.
