Food, cooking and produce
I remember my first cook book when I was a 4 year old child, ‘Look! I can Cook’, and standing on a stool at the cooker by my mum making scrambled eggs. It inspired a life long love of cooking and baking.
I’m second from left here
Graphic design can need a lot of intense concentration and quiet, so over the years I’ve often had a side‑hustle part‑time job alongside my design work. I’ve worked as a cook in a day centre, a few pub restaurants and even an Indian restaurant. I really enjoy exploring global flavours, and in my weekly meal planning I very often take a trip to Asia, South America, India and central Europe.
If you are looking for menus, social media ads or any other media to promote your foodie business, you’ll probably find I’m pleasantly low‑maintenance to work with. I already understand the food world, the pace, the pressure and the occasional urge to hide in the walk‑in fridge, so you won’t need to explain everything from the ground up. I’ve designed plenty of food‑related media and I’ve worked in kitchens myself, which means I know what needs to be shown, what needs to be said and what definitely doesn’t.
The countryside, climate change and environmental matters
I am incredibly lucky to live in a small town surrounded by countryside with access meadows and woodlands to enjoy. I’ve even stumbled upon a bee field on my walks: a huge field densely packed with wild flowers as tall as I am, and a little clutch of beehives to one side!
I try hard to minimise on household waste and I count it as a big win if i can avoid putting my bins out for collection for that they are empty. For many years my biggest client was Touchwood Homes. They were an amazing company pioneering passivhaus and passivhaus + homes and were often feature on Grand Designs tv programme. I looked after all their digital and printed media for them as well as creating brochurses
